Check-in Time:

3:00pm - 7:00pm, March 18, 2010

Judging:

March 19, 2010

Pick-up Time:

2:00pm – 5:00pm, March 28, 2010

RULES & REGULATIONS:

A Conservation Landscape Tray displays, in miniature form, modern and accurate conservation techniques in agricultural, rural and /or urban settings.

1.      The General Rules and Regulations of the Putnam County Fair apply to all shows and exhibits.

2.      Exhibitors MUST use a 26”x20”x6” plastic tray (trays available for purchase at major home improvement centers or borrow from the sponsor).

3.      All entries must be identified on the side of the tray with the following information:

a.       Individual or Group Name

b.      School, Chapter or Club

c.       Age

d.      Division

4.      Model landscape from any suitable material. All entries must use materials that will last 10 days without replacement or upkeep.

5.      Trays should be easy to lift and move, not excessively heavy.

6.      Materials used in the tray should be securely fastened without the fear of shifting upon moving.

7.      Exhibits brought in after the check-in deadline will be for display only and not considered eligible for judging.

8.      PSWCD or Putnam County Fair cannot be responsible for lost or missing items from any participants’ landscape tray.

9.      Exhibits and awards not picked up on the designated day and time may be forfeited and become the property of the Putnam County Fair.

JUDGING

1.      PSWCD will designate three (3) judges to evaluate the entries based on the following criteria:

a.       Appearance:  neatness, materials used and overall workmanship =33 points

b.      Authenticity:  scale, effective use & location of conservation practice = 33 points

c.       Conservation Practices:  effectively using a minimum of three (3) conservation practices (more than three (3) practices are encouraged); practices must be obvious to the viewer and neatly labeled = 33 points

d.      Compliance of “Rule # 3” listed above = 1 point

CLASSES/DIVISIONS

Individual Divisions: (Age as of 9/1/2009) Junior 8-10 yr., Intermediate 11-13 yr. & Senior 13-18 yr., each will earn points towards Youth Conservationist of the Year

Group Division:  Must consist of 2 or more students representing a Club, Chapter or School. Awards will be presented to the Club, Chapter or School, but does not earn points towards Youth Conservationist of the Year.
